We set off the smoke detector in our studio apartment when we accidentally turned on the wrong burner the other morning. Somehow, the smoke detector automatically alerts the fire department. Strange. Within 5 minutes, 3 full-on fire trucks, sirens blasting, were in front of our apartment building. No joke. Well, the fire department IS around the corner. I was still in my PJs (I didn’t know they were coming and so fast!). They looked at our smoke alarm, confirmed that it had reset itself and they were on their way. It’s hard to believe they do do this drill every time a smoke alarm goes off in our building. He was shocked I wanted his mug.
